The significance of the colour of this belt:
White signifies innocence, as that of the beginning student who has no previous knowledge of Tae Kwon Do.

Black is the opposite of white, signifying both maturity and proficiency in Tae Kwon Do. It also symbolises the wearer's imperviousness to darkness and fear.
