Tae Kwon-Do is for everyone! Men, women and children of all ages take part in Tae Kwon-Do training. We have
entire families training at our Dojangs. Tae Kwon-Do will improve your fitness, flexibility and most of all, your
confidence. It will help you to control or channel your aggression should the need arise. Right from the first lesson you will
start developing a whole new range of skills and capabilities. Increased self-confidence, based upon actual ability, will also
increase your self-esteem. Tae Kwon-do is safe, practical and most of all, it's FUN! In addition, in these
uncertain times, more and more people are turning to the martial arts for self-protection and Tae Kwon-Do can certainly
provide this. It is a superb form of self-defence and also a great way to keep fit. |

Tae Kwon-Do is a Korean martial art and the national sport of South Korea. It is the world's most popular martial art
in terms of the number of practitioners. Matsoki, or sparring, is also an official Olympic sporting event! Fancy doing
something special in 2012? Translated from Korean: 'Tae' literally means to jump, kick or smash with the foot; 'Kwon'
means a fist chiefly to punch or destroy with the hand or fist; 'Do' means art, way or method. So, Tae Kwon-Do is loosely
translated as "the way of the foot and the fist". Tae Kwon-Do is now practiced in 188 countries with over 70 million
practitioners and 4 million individuals with black belts throughout the world. The consistently increasing popularity of
Tae Kwon-Do has resulted in the varied evolution of the martial art into several domains: as with many other arts, it combines
combat techniques, self-defence, sport, exercise, meditation and philosophy. Tae Kwon-Do is also used by the South Korean
military as part of its training. Traditional Tae Kwon-Do is typically not competition-oriented but stems from military
roots with great emphasis on offense. Modern Tae Kwon-Do, on the other hand, tends to emphasise control and self-defence.
"...Tae Kwon-Do is an art of self-defence which aims at a noble moral rearmament, high degree of intellectual achievement,
graceful techniques, formidable power and beauty of physical form, it can be considered as a part of one's daily life,
just as are breathing and thinking." |
