Do come along! If you feel at all concerned, simply turn up as a spectator and see just how much fun everyone has. If you
have the confidence to join in, please ensure you are wearing sensible (loose) clothing and that you have removed all
jewellery/adornments. In either case, arrive a few minutes before the class starts and introduce yourself to the Instructor.
If the class has a particular bias (ie. fitness training, self-defence, patterns, etc.) the Instructor may invite you back
to a more general class, to get a better idea of what a class normally consists of.
Most of our students train at least once a week (circumstances allowing), but quite a few train twice a week and are quite
enthusiastic about progressing through the colour belts towards black belt! Simply proceed at a pace that you feel comfortable
with and listen carefully to your Instructor's advice, as your Instructor will never push you beyond your capabilities.
Whatever rate you train at, you will be surprised by what you can accomplish.
Tae Kwon-Do is surprisingly cost-effective when compared with fitness-centres and gyms. There are additional costs attached to
grading and competitions (not least of which is the specialised equipment you'll need), should you choose to compete.
Not when you start! Irrespective of your level of fitness when you join our Dojang, you'll find that your fitness, flexibility,
strength, self-control, confidence and coordination all improve over time.
Competition sparring is not mandatory and sparring in class is a highly controlled and coordinated activity. In our dojangs,
only those wearing full protective gear are allowed any contact: anyone not wearing protective gear spars without actually
making contact with their partner. However, there is an inherent risk of physical injury in the practice and learning of a
contact sport such as Tae Kwon-Do and while the Instructors will take all reasonable steps to minimise the likelihood of an
accident, the risk of physical injury cannot be completely eliminated.
